Taking A Break
There will be no problem to solve this week. We are beginning a new chapter and I want to build some fundamental skills before I post a problem involving our new material. Look for a new problem next week!

Puzzle Pieces

This week's problem is a real challenge. You will have to find the area of each piece and put them together to get the total area. This is a hard problem, so I will give a Homework pass to anyone that gets it correct. Remember to tell me how you got your answers. If you want to just post your answers, I will accept a written copy of your work to make life easier.
Good Luck!

Perimeter and Area
John has created a square garden measuring 12ft on each side. The short side of Sarah's rectangle garden also measures 12ft.
*If the longer side of Sarah's garden is 1 1/2 times longer than the other side, What is the Perimeter?
*Which garden has the larger area?
Be sure to explain your thinking and try your best to show your work.
**Your comment may not appear at the bottom right away - I had them e-mailed to me, so no one can see the correct answer and work until Friday morning. I wanted to make it fair.
**All posts are due by Friday morning - start of school!
